Village Tavern: Roth Conversions: Worth the Tax Bill?

October 21 @ 11:30 am – 12:30 pm EDT

Free Retirement LUNCH Seminar

Understand the tax tradeoff before making a decision.

A Roth conversion generally means paying income tax on previously untaxed retirement savings in the year you convert. The potential benefit comes later: qualified Roth IRA withdrawals can be free of federal income tax.

Join Asset Guard for an educational seminar about how Roth conversions work, what to consider, and why the decision depends on your retirement plans and tax situation.

What Is a Roth Conversion?

A Roth conversion moves eligible retirement money into a Roth IRA. It changes how that money is treated for tax purposes.

A conversion is different from making a new annual contribution. Understanding that difference is an important first step.

The Tax Cost Comes First

The previously untaxed portion generally becomes taxable income for the year of the conversion. That cost needs to be considered alongside any potential future benefit.

A conversion should be reviewed in the context of the full tax picture, rather than considered on its own.

The Decision Belongs in a Bigger Plan

Retirement income needs, other savings, access to money, and the time before withdrawals begin all belong in the conversation.

This seminar will help you understand the questions to ask before deciding whether a conversion may fit your circumstances.
